update

It's been awhile since I last posted. Let's see, what have I been up to?

I sent off two post-doc applications two weeks ago, then flew up to Victoria, Canada, for a conference. Here is a picture of the Parliament Building at night:

Victoria is such a beautiful city. Too bad I was stuck inside a hotel most of those two days, so I didn't get to see much.

As soon as I returned, I scrambled to finish my job applications. I sent most of them out last Wednesday, so we decided to go to Gochi to celebrate. Some of the yummy dishes we ate included...

hamachi carpaccio

crab croquette and miso pork pizza

kabocha squash mochi stuffed with cheese and wrapped with seaweed (unexpected, but good)

The very next day, we headed down to LA for another quick trip, this time to attend my paternal grandfather's funeral. We spent lots of time with family. Like my grandmother's funeral 1.5 months ago, this one wasn't very sad. In fact, it was more of a celebration of my grandfather's life and legacy: his spiritual commitment and faithfulness to the Lord.

On our way home, we stopped by Casa de Fruta and walked through their "Pumpkin Junction," filled with lots of antique trains and farming equipment:

And then today, I sent off the last batch of my applications! Yay! :) Now, the waiting begins.
