It was in the vault underneath our downstairs closet. My brave hubby sprayed the dead thing 15 times with disinfectant (we read on the website that you should do this before handling the thing, in case there are diseases), put on gloves, and reached two feet below our house to retrieve it for immediate disposal.

I didn't look. Apparently it was a smaller rat, about five to six inches long.

We're leaving the traps up for two more weeks, in case there are other ones roaming about. I surely hope not.
