weekend highlights
1. watching The Constant Gardener (it's really good but made me very sad)
2. trying Double Rainbow ice cream for the first time; the coffee one is sooo good!
3. chatting with Felicia about so many topics
-serious ones: the current state of academia, realizing the difference between "academic" left and right vs. political left and right, understanding each other's projects more, dreaming big about how we want to make a difference in academia, an intellectual's demeanor (tone of voice, style, etc) vs. actual content of argument, creativity and intelligence, friendships...
-not so serious ones: which movie star we think is really beautiful vs. the ones that are just made up well, "fast" yoga vs. "slow" yoga, silk pillowcases...
4. learning about and picking up a whole new facial care regimen: alba hawaiian products! (thanks, felicia)
5. summer's yummy soups (see post below)
6. making (slight) progress on my chapter

so random, jenie also rented the constant gardener this weekend. i didn't watch it, but she said the same thing. very good, but very sad.
