Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!
We spent it at home: had a lovely and delicious dinner "catered" by Whole Foods and then re-watched one of our all-time favorite romantic movies, Before Sunset. It's so good; it gets better and better each time you re-watch it.
Some of my thoughts on the occasion--Valentine's Day is such a commercial holiday. It has totally become a confection of hearts, flowers, and the colors pink and red. As much as it astounds and disturbs me how much this holiday is a total advertising gig for restaurants, florists, and supermarkets, I can't help but be seduced by it all. I wasn't able to resist all of the pink tulips and heart-shaped cakes sitting on the shelves today. (Speaking of hearts, my QTs lately have been about the human heart, and how important it is for us to keep our hearts pure and fixed upon God. He wants our hearts more than anything else. A good reminder.)
I'll end this post with a tip for the guys: next time you want to impress a girl, say you'll "make dinner" for her and then go to Whole Foods. You can pick up yummy entrees, sides, dessert, and even flowers there. Set the table nicely, heat up the food in the oven, and voila! When your lady arrives, just tell her that you "picked up some stuff from Whole Foods and put it together yourself." It's true, technically. :)
