29...

today!

Can't believe it's my birthday already. This year I've been so busy, scrambling for my upcoming conference (leaving this Wednesday--yikes!) and working on my chapter, that my birthday kinda just snuck up on me. I didn't think it was a big deal, just one more year before the really big one (30), until Joy mentioned to me the other day that this is the last birthday in my twenties. That got me thinking: yeah, I guess it is a weird thought to consider that I'm entering my last year of the twenties. I can't quite wrap my mind around that.

Well, I guess I won't for now and just post pictures of all the wonderful birthday celebrations I've had this past week. :)

A few Fridays ago, some of us got together at Chef Joy's for a delicious Japanese dinner...

we got a little silly after dinner

Then we spent all of our time making Mii's on Karen's Wii...do we look like our Mii's?

Last Thursday Byron and I went to the city to celebrate. We first had dinner at Clementine's, a French restaurant in the Richmond district...

Afterwards, we went to the A.C.T. to watch Hedda Gabler, an Ibsen play. It was okay. A little confusing, but I still found it interesting. Today, I shared my birthday with three other Canaan folk--amazing that all four of us were born on the same day and attend the same church!

(I'm wearing my birthday shirt from Joy and Grace)

At night, I had dinner with Byron's sister and some of her friends, and then had more dessert at our place with the Kittoe boys plus Daniel, Mike and Joy:

Thanks to everyone for the dinner, cupcakes, emails, phone calls, messages, gifts, and cards. You made today memorable and special. I truly appreciate each of you. :)

Happy birthday, Maria. The 30's ain't so bad. That's when all fun kicks in: you're young enough to play and you have the income to do it. Plus the wisdom too.

That's all true until the children arrives. Then all bets are off.
