update
Long story short on my maroonish mistake: I forgot (i.e. didn't know) to register for summer quarter, which means I can't actually file my dissertation this quarter. So even if I finish it, I can't submit. Sad, huh?
The silver lining is, that I can just take my "graduation quarter" in the fall, pay a reduced tuition fee then, and pay nothing for the summer. Summer quarter is considered a freebie in this case.
So, not only do I get some extra time to finish my dissertation (although I'm still going to shoot to finish in September and maybe file like the first day of fall quarter), I also save $3000 of tuition costs for fall quarter. This is the best mistake I've ever made. Like I wrote before, God is really gracious.

Wow. Sorry to hear that things didn't go according to plan, but glad that the new plan works out just as well (better?).
Wow, God is good!
