berlin

I'm too tired to write much, but I put up some pictures of our first full day. Some interesting tidbits/stories you'll have to ask us about when we come back (this is also a reminder for us about our observations/topic of conversation):

-Byron falling asleep while standing up and walking around the Gemaldegalerie (and it wasn't because he was bored looking at Medieval/Renaissance paintings!)
-why Germans are so friendly to tourists and speak such good English
-lifestyle/dinner pace differences (we are just too "rushed" Americans)
-devotional art thoughts by Byron (of course); also, "audio tours are the way to go"

our hostel, Circus (more like a dorm with Ikea furnishings)

yummy roast bratwurst on the street

Dunkin Donuts at the Sony Center (they are everywhere!)

this is before Byron got sleepy

I can't remember the painter, but I do remember the subject is St. Sebastian

Reichstag (German Parliament Building)

Brandenburg Gate (also a former site of the Berlin Wall)

Holocaust Memorial

one of my faves: having Russian tea at the Tajik tea station

Aufwiedersehen until later!
