there's no place like (my parents') home

I arrived in LA yesterday, and have been lounging around at my parents' home. This trip had been planned for several months now; I'm here to attend Teresa's baby shower on Saturday, finally meet baby Jadon, hang out with family and friends. Then I started to feel sick Monday night, felt even worse on Tuesday, and as I buckled my seat belt on the plane yesterday afternoon, began to wonder if this trip really was a good idea. Being sick and travelling just isn't fun (i.e. our Europe trip in April).

But as soon as I got to my parents' house, those doubts dissipated. Who am I kidding?! Being here in LA is the *best* place to be when I'm sick: food magically appears on the table, dishes somehow end up clean in the dish rack, there's a comfy couch for me to lounge on and endless cable channels to watch (including the Lakers-Clippers game last night), people pick me up and drive me around...where else would I want to be? :) After several sleepless nights (mostly due to getting up to go the bathroom at least 3-4 times per night and tossing and turning from needing to sleep on my side), I only got up once last night and slept very comfortably on my side. This morning, I had two steaming bowls of fresh chicken soup for breakfast. My parents picked me up and then dropped me off for lunch, and at dinner time Byron's parents will do the same. The only thing missing in all of this lazy, restful bliss is my hubby.

I think I'm going to get well very soon.
