He's coming! Three weeks from today, our little boy is supposed to make an appearance. We are hoping he doesn't come too early, since we are still preparing for him. :)
Byron and I really dragged our feet about getting ready for a few months, but now we are in full-time cleaning mode. Slowly but surely, this is what we've done so far: we've swapped and rearranged the furniture between the study and the baby room (thanks to the strong men in our community group), got rid of a lot of junk to make space, "optimized" our storage space around the house by adding extra shelves and bins, and are in the process of re-organizing our upstairs closets and cabinets. I've been doing lots of baby laundry the past two weeks--folding, sorting, putting away--as well as cooking extra meals to freeze for later.
Still left on our plate for the weekend and next week: Byron will assemble the crib and changing table, I need to sterilize a few things, we need to pack for the hospital, take out our infant carseat and figure out how to use it, and then voila! We are good to go (I think). The to-do lists never seem to end, but it is coming together, by God's grace.
I've been limited by a bad case of pregnancy-induced carpal tunnel and arthritis in my hands, which means I need to take longer to do chores and distribute them throughout the week. My right hand is especially stiff and numb, so it has been very painful to do many things. But God's daily grace and strength has been very abundant--He always provides enough for each day. Byron has been super helpful and supportive, picking up a lot of the slack, and dear friends and family have also come over to help me fold, sort, organize, and even cook meals for us. So I am very thankful.
As I fold a little bit of baby clothes each day, I marvel at their smallness--little footsies, little sleeves, little sweaters. I can't believe that very soon there will be a little person wearing those clothes! I can't wait to meet him.
