we're moving!
It's been a long time since I last blogged, and I have big news to share: we're moving back to LA!
I was offered a tenure-track assistant professor position at Biola. I accepted. We're moving in mid-July, which is in about 2.5 months!
Both Byron and I are super excited and thankful. This job is a dream come true, something we've both been waiting for for a long time. God has his perfect timing. There is too much to tell, but we're just amazed and jumping up and down all the time.
Well, when we're not getting excited, there is also a lot of planning to do. Things to figure out. Like what to do about Byron's job. Whether to buy or rent. Ethan's childcare. Where to live (okay, that one we already decided; we're gonna live in the SouthBay near our families). How to teach world literature (one of my course assignments). And the list goes on and on.
It'll be sad to leave the Bay area. It's been our home for ten years. Ten years! I can't believe we've lived here this long. I'm going to miss our friends and our life here, but it's time to go home. I've wanted to move back to LA for a long time, especially after we had Ethan. Now it's finally happening.

Congrats Maria! Joe and I are really happy for you guys. We now have another set of friends to visit down in SoCal. :) I got to meet your sister at Enoch and Helen's wedding a couple of weeks ago in Vancouver.

That's wonderful news. I understand how important it is to be close to family when you have a child. That will be such a gift to all of you. Enjoy the job, as well... how fortunate your students will be.
